About the course

During this 1 day course, participants will learn both the basics and advanced features of setting up and using payroll in Xero accounting software. This is a hands on approach where participants will develop practical skills they can immediately use in their workplace. Participants will also receive a detailed manual with real life examples and tips. This course is run by a CPA qualified Accountant and expert certified Xero Consultant.

Who should do the course

This course is intended for participants who want to learn or improve their Xero payroll knowledge. This course covers both the basics and advanced features of setting up employees, submitting TFN declarations, processing payroll of timesheets and no timesheets, accruing and using leave entitlements, running reports, submitting Single Touch Payroll (STP) information to the ATO, payment of payroll obligations including PAYG Withholding and Superannuation, and preparing PAYG Payment Summaries (Group Certificates). Prerequisites

No previous understanding of Xero or payroll is needed for this course.

Participants should have setup a Xero trial account prior to attending this course. Instructions on how to do this will be sent upon registration and we can help you if you have any problems doing this.

About the Trainer

Trevor Cairney has worked with hundreds of businesses and brings 20years experience in senior finance positions and 7 years working with Xero.Trevor is a CPA qualified accountant, a registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board, has a Bachelor in Business, and is Xero Payroll Certified, Xero Certified Advisor, and Xero Migration Certified.Trevor was CFO of Australia’s leading HR payroll software company for 6 years and was integral to the process of transitioning the business to a public company. Trevor is now CFO at 4 private companies and is also the founder and director of Zed Business Services and Zed Payroll.

                Before going to the course, I was doing basic payroll in Xero by just clicking a button, but I didn’t know how to fix any errors or make sure the payroll or leave accruals were actually right. It turns out our leave accruals were not setup properly and we were accruing too much leave for everyone – this is something which would not have been picked up if I did not do this course. Just learning about this part has made the course pay for itself.
